Enjoyable Weekend

I was "sick" on Thursday so I didn't work. Went to my NAMI class on Thursday and it was enjoyable. I highly recommend that anyone living with a family member with mental illness should attend the NAMI Family-to-Family classes. They're great. If you want more info, just let me know. On Friday Tiffany had some appointments and then I took her ( Read more... )

I wish my folks would just CONTEMPLTATE going to a NAMI thingy... w/2 daughters with a history of suicide and the 3rd also suffering from deprssion, you'd think they'd go. But no... they just keep saying the wrong thing at the wrong time and we (me and my sisters) have given up on that front. :/

btw, nothing's wrong w/dating 2 or more people at once, as long as everyone knows what's going on ;)

I know - I wish I'd have gone to the NAMI classes years ago when I was still married to my husband with BiPolar. I've been a social worker for 17 + years and it's not the same as going as the parent of a child with a mental illness. So helpful to be with others who understand.

And yep - they know about each other. One of my issues with guys I date is that if you expect me to make a commitment to you on the first date, you have issues. NOT going there.

My daughter says if I'm dating more than one guy I'm a "playa."

*gigglesnrk*

When we were growing up it was just "dating around" as opposed to "going steady". *parental eyeroll* Kids these days...

(Of course, I'm one to talk... especially as my 21YO son is a little grossed out at his parents being "cute". Naturally this encourages us to do it more, just to yank his chain.)

LOL. I know. Whenever those conversations come up about "how do you think you got here?" and they totally gag and freak out - it's great!
