This has been a particularly hard year for EVERYONE financially and I am no exception.  While I am SO thankful for my job and certainly have way more than others in this topsy-turvy world, it has been difficult comparatively speaking.  So when Jared told me he gets Christmas leave I was ecstatic!  Because he is set to deploy sometime after the ( Read more... )

Thanks! Yeah - "squicked out" - that's what I was feeling! I love that icon. I tried to make me one, but I couldn't get it saved where I could use it.

I don't play secret spy games. I think that if he truly meant to help, he wouldn't be so antagonistic. Karma will sort him out either way, right? I'd have done the same thing you did. Perhaps less politely. But, that's part of my charm.

LOL. Thanks - and you're right. I'll let karma have its way.

Sounds like a nut job to me.

You were not ever able to find the fare I told you about then? Give me the date and airport codes again and Ill see if I can get you the direct flight numbers

I found the fares you cited for one-way at about $250 but not the round trip at that fare. Dates are 12/22-1/4 SEA to RDU and I was checking every site that does tickets I could find.

Seems that its the flight out that is the issue. If he can go back on Monday the 5th instead, I have $328 round trip. if it has to be Sunday, its at best $548. My site wont even let me select the 4th as an option part of the time.
I am sorry I was not able to find you anything.

That's ok! No, he couldn't go out on the 5th, because he has to be back on the job. Thanks for trying and it all worked out great anyway!

Nope, I don't think you were over reacting. The person sounded creepy and offensive. It's perfectly within your rights to say, "I'm sorry, I'm not comfortable with those arrangements" and the person offering not get their undies in a twist.

HECK NO. You were not overreacting. There are too many people out there trying to take advantage of military families by pretending to want to help out. There are many scams out there, and this guy sounded like one. Also, the cloak of anonymity is BS. If I were Jared's CO (and someday I will probably be a PL or CO) there is NO WAY I would work with someone like this - simply because I don't trust someone I can't check out. I wouldn't want him anywhere near my soldiers or their families.

Crystal sounds like an angel, and I'm so glad you get to see Jared over the holidays!

That really means a lot coming from you. I didn't think that a CO would be "thrilled" to have to call a stranger and deal with something like that. Thank you!
