Nice Weekend in the Rose Garden...

Things are going pretty good.  Tiffany runs hot and cold (of course) but overall is doing very well.  Divine intervention really came into play on Friday.  I am on a social meeting website called www.tagged.com.  I have met some nice friends there, but it's like every other networking site - you have to be CAREFUL.  Full of scammers, imposters, etc ( Read more... )

Yeah, I think it's going to take something like that for her to finally get it. Thanks for the feedback!

At that meeting, if she doesn't storm off in a huff, or at some other time you set aside to talk about things, the topic needs to be "trust" and how important it is to trust ( ... )

Thank you - that is excellent feedback. I understand the first point about "where did she learn that." I must say that one of the reasons I have such a problem with lying and manipulating is that I have no experience with either. I do not do those things and raised my sons not to do so - so other than the normal teenager stuff with them, lying was never a problem. Unfortunately, Tiffany has only been my daughter since she was 14 1/2 - I adopted her after she was in foster care and then a failed adoption that lasted 2 years. The lying behavior is not uncommon in children who have been in such situations. The other problem for me in knowing how to address her behaviors is that she has Bi-Polar Disorder and her psychiatrist also suspects Borderline Personality Disorder, both of which are characterized by such behaviors. So she has a triple whammy - severe childhood trauma, mental illness, and just being a teenager!
