My biggest Buffy tears definitely came for Season 5's The Body, which is I think probably the most realistic depiction of what it's like to have a loved one die ever committed to film. But The Gift is a toughie too! Imagine how it was watching the show as it aired, not being sure if it would be back for another season!
Of Season Six, I'll say this: a lot of people hated it at the time, but now on DVD, I find that it's actually remarkably strong, but the tone is a lot darker than the previous seasons... but occasionally, a lot sexier too. And you still have things like the musical to look forward to!
I think, when all is said and done, that I prefer the earlier seasons to S5. Everyone told me this was the strongest one, but it often seemed a like the writers had bitten off more than they could chew... the scope was huge, too huge perhaps, and not everything got knit together in the end. It's growing more complex and deeper, but not more moving (last two minutes of the season aside). And I sense that Sarah MG is losing interest slightly in the character - her acting seems more forced, and more disconnected, than in earlier seasons.
So far I think Season 2 (perfect and simple story arc) and Season 4 (so accurate a depiction of First Year) are my faves.
I'm excited for all kinds of darkness in S6, so long as it involves Buffy hooking up with Spike, who is fast climbing up my list of Greatest Characters of All Times, and is possibly the sexiest man on television.
James Marsden IS by far not only the hottest man on television, but in THE HISTORY OF TIME.
You know what I like best about the DVDs? The incredible special features. True story, I've watched THEM ALL. They have set some serious precedents for my movie renting. I now get angry if they only include a trailer and a lame-ass commentary. I want some behind the scenes, dammit!
Ah, and commentary with Joss Whedon, aka my boyfriend for eva, is nothing short of awesomesauce.

shoving a stake through the heart of my ex-boyfriend, not because I don't still desperately love him but because it's the Right Thing To Do...???? Ex-CUSE me, but can you spell R-E-L-A-T-E???

Spike! Buffy! Back from the dead! Dangerous liasons!
Yeah. I also shed a lot of eyeball water on that one.

I feel like I'm sorry I got you into this mess. But on the other hand I'm glad things in Motown are going well.
