A chuckle

At a dinner party last night of girlfriends new and old, I was requested to tell the story, yet again, of my absurdly disastrous Greyhound trip to Miami almost two years ago. My absurdly disastrous trip, in which I impulsively decided to take a 46 hour bus to the city where my recently-exed-boyfriend happened to be vacationing, in lieu of hopping ( Read more... )

i had a weirdly similar experience third year involving 24 hours on a train to red hook, upstate new york to come to terms with my own would-be, unrealistic Love. pretty damn low at the bottom. we never really stopped hurting each other, though, and now even three years later we're recovering from the latest blow. you give me hope, Saraa.

yay for passionate, impulsive decisions. they make for such good party anecdotes when all is healed.

Confession: do you remember when I abruptly left for New York for four days in 2004? It was to pursue a guy I was convinced was my soulmate...even though we had never met! (don't ask, it's a looong story)

Sorry I've been out of touch -- I still don't have Internet yet in my apartment. I hope you are doing well in Montreal!

(BTW, what do you know about Madrid, and is it worth spending oodles of money visiting?)

i've heard mixed things about madrid - the museum is worth a trip, but the city itself sounds more like a place to pass through for a night or two on your way from one cool spanish town to another, as part of a two-week tour.

Gotcha. Madrid can wait. Instead, I'm going to the south of France. Toulouse, Nimes, Avignon, Marseille et Aix-en-Provence, j'y viens!

Aix is kinda cool, if smallish. Avignon is all walled and pretty - and I think that's where the Amphitheatre is? The Amphitheatre is sweet and so is that Roman aquaduct... I feel like both of those things are in the same Avignon-related vacinity. But from my own memories, Nimes is dullsville. Go to Nice! So beautiful! Best ice cream ever! Swim in the sea! (I did it in March and nearly lost all gender.)
