Late at night when you look at your baby asleep in their cradle, are you the only one who hopes they want to become a baker, a shoe maker, a painter? Who hopes for dull dreams of florist shops and making noodles instead of star sharp kuni and the honor of a forehead protector that often comes home when a body can't?
When you watch those first steps, do you wish for a limp, a falter, a fear of going forward? Something, anything, to cripple your child just enough. Just enough to save them

OP here- Wow, this is wonderful! So poignant, and powerful, in describing parental agony, with striking visual details and heartfelt efforts, hoping for the best and fearing the worst...
