I would have been disappointed his Sasuek had a costume change. He doesn't need it, because for him it's not power what he gets in the end. He needs clarity. About what he should fight for and so Rinnegan hopefully provides him this insight. That he does to Tobirama and reconnects with the past, while Naruto talk with Gaara about the future is probably symbolic as well.
And Madara a) looks like he finally gets to Mooneye Plan and b) probably wouldn't cry if he loses. Naruto & Sasuke beating him would be the time of his (after) life.
What I wonder about is Obito. I don't believe his redemption thing. I just think, he realized he couldn't beat Madara own his own and backs Sasuke & Naruto until he gets his chance.
Agree about Madara. While I'm sure he really wants to succeed with the Moon Eye Plan, he is all about enjoying the fight.
It just occured to me the similarity between Madara and Guy. Guy has his "springtime of youth" or you could call it his passion for life. Madara's passion is for the fight, the conflict. Both express their passion but in different ways. Guy is more nerd, while Madara is definitely cooler.
Now I'm imagining Madara as Guy's rival/friend instead of Kakashi. Wow, that is what I get for eating gas station tex-mex for breakfast. Not sure if I should embrace this pairing or use mind bleach.
As for Obito? He's never come out and said what he did was wrong. Nor has he appologized to Naruto for causing the death of his parents. So I don't believe he was redeemed either, not yet any way. Obito switched sides because Naruto was able to convince him that he would be able to accomplish Obito's goals, but without using Moon Eye Plan. And frankly because he was defeated by Naruto and Sasuke.
I had a couple of ideas while I read the chapter, but not many. I guess that now it's really a matter of time when the manga will end - after this fight of Naruto and Sasuke versus Madara nothing more will come. I wonder whether Sasuke will also get a second Rinnegan. I don't see any reason why he developped only one Rinnegan eye.
I have a bad headache from tense shoulder muscles, and today I want to drive a few hundred kilometres to go to Hobbitcon, so I cannot comment more.
As for Sasuke's single rinnegan, I'm sure we will get an explanation next chapter. In a way this was more of a set up chapter for what is going to be the beginning of a long battle with Madara. I'm expecting more to happen next week.
Thanks for the review. I really wanted to know what it was that the sage said to Sasuke but I guess we won't find out. Is anyone really surprised that Gai didn't die? What is the ratio of characters that should have died as opposed to characters that did die? like a hundred to 5?
So the manga truly feels that it is ending. Madara cannot be defeated without any of the characters powering up, so naturally they will get one final power up. But I wonder whether Obito will have a part in taking Madara down.
I really want to know what Sasuke and the Sage talked about too. I'm assuming he was asked the same question as Naruto and I'm pretty sure his answer was different which is why I think we will get a flashback of Sasuke and the Sage talking.
As for Gai, I'm on the fence. I think it could go either way. Though the longer he lives the more likely it is he won't die.
Obito still has control of Madara's other rinnegan. So in that way he is contributing to defeating Madara. Need to see what he will ask Sakura to do.
