To add more now that I'm not at work, if you're into music at all (not just country), Nashville is a great place to live. Tons of good shows come through here, both big and small. The cost of living is decent. There's lots to do and you don't have to spend too much

I've heard it's a great place for music which I look forward to. I also look forward to having lots to do without breaking my budget. That's all very good news for me.
LU boasts about it's job placement, so I'm not surprised to hear that.
Things like that are the closest I get to anxiety on the matter. I understand it's a Christian school which coincides with my personal beliefs, but I'm very relaxed in my practice of it and don't want things pushed down my throat. I like that the school's Christian because I figured this would be my only chance to experience religion in schools (and maybe the people will be nicer), but I'm not gonna pretend to be more devoted than I am.
I don't think I've ever heard much in the way of negativity, if anything. It's about 20ish minutes from downtown Nashville by the way I'd drive, possibly less. If you're living on campus, you'll be pretty close to shopping opportunities (Walmart, Hundred Oaks mall
( ... )
I've definitely considered the temperature differences (e.g. having actual seasons), so I'll keep that in mind.
Thanks for the tips on parking / shopping! I'll be spending the vast majority of time on campus and we're already required to attend chapel, so I won't be looking for churches when I leave. :P I actually don't go to church now, so even that will be odd once I get there.
Yeah, I wasn't sure but threw that in there just in case; if LU is anything like Trevecca there's a big difference between mandatory chapels (you have to go to 25/30-something a semester, I think? My sister just did a college visit, and Christian college students love to compare chapel requirements) and going to church because you want to.
Few more things: the Nashvillest blog, though sporadically updated now, often lists not just local news, but upcoming events. Now Playing Nashville lists a ton of events, both free and not. Everything from festivals to theater to the flea market that's every third weekend of the month. Ms. Cheap has a newspaper column, but her blog is also a good place to look. Sales, free/cheap days at local attractions...lots of cool stuff.
And finally, there's a $2 theater in Antioch, with $1.50 popcorn and drinks on Tuesdays. I'm not entirely sure how far that is away from you, but it's a good place to know. It's parent company, Carmike, also has "super matinees" of $5.50 from 4:00-5:30 at most of their first

(Okay then, LJ! Leaving out the links because spam, apparently. Googling what's underlined should turn them up as the first result, though.)

You'll also be very close to the Green Hills retail district, which is a good place to walk around and window shop even if you don't have a lot of spending money.

I'll take a peek at the mall, though.
