So I just got my absentee ballot in today and lo and behold there is an amendment to the Saratoga Springs city charter proposing a major change in city government, the move from a commission style government to the popular (strong)mayor-council form. After reading over the proposed changes by the 2006 Charter Revision Commission and the amended ( Read more... )

I got mine too :) They even have a green candidate for state senator, and the republican candidate is so low in the polls I could actually vote for who I want to get the possition. Alas, I don't have enough cash for postage, and I lost my PIN for the ATM and my bank is nearly empty. Democracy is doomed.

Btw, my ballot look like is was designed by an IBM "computer" circa 1940's and the attached sheet of instructions is so incoherent that it makes it very hard to understand how to vote for a write-in candidate (there goes my straight-Communist-Party-of-USA ballot). The overall impression is that people in charge don't really give a crap about your vote. Maybe Saratoga Springs is different.

I'd have to say my ballot was equally as silly, it was the size of a Peter Frampton poster a teenager in the 70's would hang on their wall, its like they are trying to trick me into believing that I've won some free promotion, it really is ridiculously large. But I was surprised by the number of candidates on the ballot, there were at least 4 candidates on the ballot from the Socialist Worker Party, and another candidate from yet another socialist party, I think 5 or 6 green candidates, and some libertarians. And evidently John Bruno local state senator is crazy popular because he was a Republican in a mixed district going unopposed. The instructions were pretty simple, check the box, write in down below, so I can't really complain. And come on now Juice you are from Penn. right? I think Santorum needs a few votes, this is one of the few chances you have left to vote for a man whose name is slang for the mix of excrement and male sexual discharge.

when I voted absentee last year for Ohio I got a punch ballot. They even sent me a special hole punching tool, which was little more than a paperclip that had been partially unwound.
