Actually... I wouldn't say that Draco has "never been so dark". If anything, he's never been so ambiguous. He LOWERED HIS WAND! He was functioning for Voldemort out of FEAR, not malice! Sure, he still hated Harry, but he was not bent on murder! How many days must he have gone to that boys' bathroom and lamented over something he was unable, for whatever reason, to do? Haha! This is the best Draco has ever been, and I'm positively delighted!

I just read this, and I've finished (!!!!) le book, so no worries.

And you're RIGHT. AMBIGUOUS!DRACO LOFF.

IMO, this is the best canon development Draco could have ever received. I'm just - thrilled that he was IN the book so often, that he had layers & DEPTH (*shock*). So tremendously excited to see what becomes of him.

I kept a list of pages with subtext. Hopefully I can compare notes with you later. Btw, page 409 had double stars and OMGWTFBBQ next to it. ^_~ Love JKR for that.
