apparently you can't just toggle back and forth between the two computer system things (Mac&PC) without erasing ALL the contents of your iPod
Are you sure? iPods are made to be a portable version of your iTunes Library, so when you synchronise, you make your iPod match the iTunes Library on the computer from which you're synching. BUT. You can simply choose never to synch, and always to move music manually. To move tunes back from the iPod to the computer, you'll need a third-party app. I use http://www.drewfindley.com/findleydesigns/ipodaccess/ on my Mac, which appears to be available for Windows, too.
(I only use my iPod with one computer, but it's an older laptop with a 10GB hard drive, so whyintheheck would I keep all my tunes on the 'puter when I can bump 'em off to a separate storage location? Then if I want to make a mix - iPod Access is there!)
My advice on the ipod situation (and trust me, I've accidentally deleted all the contents of my ipod at least three times), is to export all your songs to your Wally.
I even have reasons for this, and these reasons are:
You will need them there eventually anyway. When you go to use itunes or to put new songs on or anything in future on your Wally, if the mp3s aren't on there, it won't let you listen to them, and if you click on the wrong setting by accident, it will delete them all!
You'll have to format your ipod to be compatible with Windows, which is a pain and it is better to get it over with. (I think the reason for this is because your ipod sort of acts as a hard drive, so you can't toggle between in the same way that you can't use floppy disks between and all.)
