So, the Library of Congress has a book festival this weekend! Which authors should I go see/stand in line to get a book signed by? The only one I'm planning on at this point is Shannon Hale (maybe Paula Deen). Everybody weigh in and tell me who I've been missing out on.

Yes, Shannon Hale! She makes up a substantial proportion of my to-read stack at the moment, and I am currently reading Book of a Thousand Days which...YES.

And speaking of fairytale-ish stuff, Holly Black would be interesting. Haven't read her Spiderwick Chronicles, but the modern faerie tale trilogy is in my stack after a cursory flick-through, and she has a cute anthology called Geektastic AND one coming up about, wait for it, ZOMBIES VS UNICORNS. That might very well be the greatest concept I have heard in MY LIFE. Zombies! And Unicorns! Nothing but pure awesome can come from that! Also, graphic novels and being an lj-er are a bonus.

I wasn't kidding when I said all I read lately is ya stuff, btw. So, yeah, I'd probably just drop at the feet of Judy Blume and worship her as the author who STARTED it all for me.

Okay, so I am lame and by the time I'd finished wandering around from tent to tent checking things out, I'd missed all the book signing anyway. But it was raining and busy and there was free stuff and it was cool. And I did hear Judy Blume speak. Plus, I'm totally going to check out Holly Black now.
