Ill do a proper update later - But just incase you were thinking i was exaggerating with the really hot weather?

Perth is smashing through heat-related records and this summer is likely to be the equal hottest recorded if the Bureau of Meteorology's predicted temperatures run as planned until the end of February, which ends tomorrow.

The heatwave -- three or more days of maximum temperatures reaching 35C or higher -- began on Thursday and is forecast to continue until at least next Saturday.

And there was no let up today with the temperature peaking at 36.2C at 11.59am after a sticky overnight low of 22.9C, which came at 5.55am.

The forecast for Sunday is a searing 38C after a minimum of 25C. The UV rating is extreme and the fire danger is High.,

Climate information officer John Relf said the record for the longest run of warm nights defined as above 20C was likely to be broken this morning, with a forecast of 25C.

Minimum temperatures were expected to stay above 20C for the rest of the week.

BOM meteorologist Patrick Ward said temperatures were consistently high this week because of a trough to the west formed by tropical cyclone Carlos blocking sea breezes.

Friday was the 57th summer day with temperatures over 30C, breaking the previous record of 56 days.

Australian Medical Association WA president Dave Mountain said prolonged high temperatures put frail people with pre-existing medical conditions at risk.

Mark Strickland, acting SunSmart manager at the Cancer Council WA, warned people to cover up against the sun.

"Clothing is the best line of defence against UV radiation," he said.
