Political correctness gone mad!

red_scully wrote an LJ entry here: http://red-scully.livejournal.com/166791.html that I tried to respond to, but I went over the character limit, and LJ told me to shorten it! I don't want to shorten it. So here's my response (her LJ is friends-locked, so basically she was remonstrating ( Read more... )

Hmm, interesting point you make about breaking the mould. I guess it is true that these things come around now and then. Phases of repression and subsequent indulgence have been happening since the 16th Century (remember English lessons? The Restoration? The Country Wife?!). Yes, that makes me feel a whole lot more positive that this thing will be blown out the air in a few years with a new generation of comedians/artists/TV producers who want to rebel against the current climate. I feel better already, thanks :-)

good. But that doesn't mean it shouldn't be fought. If no-one fought nasty censorship then no-one would break the mould. WE might be the new Lenny Bruce natbat!
I need to read The Country Wife again. That was kick ass dude. Actually might read Age Of Innocence...

We must and shall be the next Lenny Bruce! Perhaps we will get our big break with Sexist Feminist Lesbian and the silent music. And CRCM will shake up the music industry good and proper.

Age of Innocence... I hope that was a joke, and you're not *seriously* going to waste your time reading it again?! Christ, once was bad enough...

I loved iBus...eee, what a sweet name too. I'm not a huge fan of buses in London as I always feel like I don't know where I'm going, so one night coming home from the midweek football I took the 21 from City Road to Moorgate and i was so comforted by the little voice telling me exactly where I was. So I like it! And you can tell whoever needs telling!

There is so much over-reaction and hoo-ha about everything. I was reading in the paper today about this BBC newsreader who was doing the usual paper review (I think this is usually at about 11pm) and he picked out a story about a soggy moggy that had been reported about in the Sun, so he said "We all like a wet pussy at the BBC!" Now, for Pete's sake, it's a joke, yet apparently he was heavily reprimanded for saying such a thing.

Yay! You see? That's the normal reaction most people have to iBus. Apart from a few twats that talk to us on a daily basis...
