Gmail users: now you can use IMAP instead of crappy POP3.

Yes, v_cat, I'm looking at you. :)

Not all gmail users. At least not yet. Apparently they're still testing the feature. My main account has imap, but my spam account doesn't.

I was just telling Matt the other night (maybe 5 days ago?): People keep asking me how to keep messages from appearing as unread after they've been read on webmail or a mail reader...but I don't want to just say, "Sorry, Google is stupid so there is no fix! Muahaha!" so I keep hoping that if I stall on that blog column long enough Google will wise up and open up IMAP... Thank you, Google, for ensuring that I don't have to write lame blog posts by finally seeing sense.

Hmmmmm....

I've been poking around looking for details about when my account will get IMAP. This Google info page announces the rollout of "Free IMAP!" along with...."How it works on the iPhone!" Wonder if this is some agreement fallout from Apple prominently displaying google apps on the phone. "We'll put your google apps on, but only if our iPhone users can have non-stupid email!"
