My dad has similar stories. Not about drugs, I don't know if he did any or not. But last summer he had a Vietnam reunion with all of his buddies from there. He hadn't seen or spoken to them in 35 years. After that reunion, he was like a different person. All of a sudden he talked more than usual (our conversations usually consist of weather and how my car is running.) Anyway, he was telling me about how he saw some of his friends get blown up and only their shoulders and head were left and watching them die, and also about small children throwing bombs at their convoy as they drove past, so they had no choice but to shoot the little kids. Crazy. He also told me that they buried their beer under ground under a fire to keep them cold because the fire drew all the heat up. And they ate snake, and he said they usually drank Schlitz and Papst Blue Ribbon, and on special occasions, they got Busch. Haha.
