Tomorrow is Dead Duck Day. Thirteen years have passed. It grieves me that neither Karin nor Ellie will ever know their Uncle Andrew except through pictures and reminiscences. Most of the people whom I am closest to never met him either. And life goes on, every day without him.

I made good on my promise to myself and went to Kent's Foundation class at Willow Glen Yoga this morning. I have missed his meticulous tutelage. Years ago when I first began doing yoga, he recognized a spark in me and fostered my practice. Today was punkmom's birthday. We gathered for a family dinner, her family, our family and Juanita, at the marvelous Kazoo Sushi in Japantown. Today for the first time in many months I practiced yoga. After dropping Kaelyn off at school, I picked Sandi up at her house and together we attended a class at Willow Glen Yoga. I was a bit disconcerted to find that after 12 years of teaching the Thursday morning class, my mentor and favorite yoga teacher had passed the torch on to another yogi. ( Read more... )
