Vampirism is not always a bad thing. Each night (or every few nights) that you're a vampire, you'll gain new abilities and get stronger. The downside is that as you get stronger, you take more sunlight damage. When you feed, it returns you to your base vampire level (not too many abilities, but sunlight is less harmful).
Now the big problem with being a vampire is that it will make some quests hard. The bigger problem is that while there is a cure for vampirism, it is PERMANENT. So once you've been cured, you can never become a vampire again with that character.
I hope you find this helpful. This has been Roseanne, your guide to the world of facts.
gotta say after playing round a bit, im quite fond of being a vampire :) i like the night vision and life detection ability :) and ive also noticed that in the basic form, light doesnt burn you. also is it normal that female vampires have beards? because my char is female, and now has an up and coming goatee :/
and also.. argh! i broke into some1s house in imperial city, fed, pickpocketed them and they woke up! now im in imp city with a bounty :/ RUNAWAY!
Yes, it's normal for female vampires to have beards, lol. With regards to the sunlight thingy, just be careful later in the game when you're doing some of the looooonger dungeons. You'll emerge from it several days later and fry if you're careless.
With regards to the criminal acts...shame on you! Incidentally, if you're just looking to feed, the homeless guy who sleeps in the slums is a ready source of blood in the Imp city.
Damnit, I really wanna play Oblivion now! Too bad it was one of the games I had to sell so I could buy Guitar Hero II.
as for picking on the homeless... done it, it works, but wheres the fun in that :) i much prefere breaking into houses at night and feeding on ppl as they sleep :) and as for dungeons, i gotta say i havnt done any of that caliber, also bare in mind i pretty much shrugged off the main storyline at an early stage and am doing my own thing atm. its just the way i play these games. i dont like being a slave to quests, not my style.
and as for guitar hero, it rocks :) tho the gimmick has worn off a bit now.
I always found that being a vampire was far too much trouble. It's always just as you hit 100% that you suddenly need to be on the other side of Cyrodiil really badly, and it's daytime, so you end up doing what I ended up doing: careening across the landscape on fire, smashing or avoiding anything that gets in your way
( ... )
ill keep that in mind. im finding atm, especially with the way i play the game, the vampirism gives it an interesting twist, and im currently quite fond of it. but as always with these things, things change. when it comes to it, ill check out the money guy, but i dunno if itll work, as i know they have apparently smoothed out alot of the bugs in the PS3 version. Just out of curiosity, what are the loading times like on the 360 version? theyre virtually non-existant on the ps3 version, but i heard they can be quite painfull on the 360 version.. i wouldnt know..
On the 360, the loading times for Oblivion are AWFUL. They really suck. The game is more than good enough to compensate for it, but it is annoying when you fast travel to another city and as it loads the new locale you realise you forgot to do something important, so not only will you have to endure this loading screen, but then you'll have to have one as you go back and do your business, then have ANOTHER one when you go out again. It's just a pain.
Also annoying for the 360, of course, is the small matter of the game slowing down tremendously after about five hours because Oblivion is such a mind-boggling game that it clogs the console's cache. Saving and restarting to clear the cache is easy enough, but it breaks the fourth wall.
i can imagine that being really annoying. i knew they worked on that for the ps3, and its kinda obvious as theyre virtually non existant. half the time i dont even get the chance to read the lil loading screen tips
