So I got oriented, the best part being that I was able to enroll in courses for the fall quarter. (Although I could have just as easily accomplished this from home, but I do have to convince myself there was some reason for attending orientation.) I am quite proud of my schedule, which places all of my classes on Tuesday and Thursdays exclusively ( Read more... )

I tend to go for the Mon/Wed/Fri approach, myself.

What are you taking?

Dan! Your quick reply finalized my decision to once again use Instant Messenger, in hopes that you were still online... but you aren't.

Thus far, I am taking Intro to Philosophy, Intro to Visual Arts (the foundation course for the art major), and Overview of the Universe. I am slightly concerned that I have only fifteen minutes between all three, plus a Tuesday discussion section for the Visual Arts class fifteen minutes after Overview of the Universe. Is it easy to get from Thimman Lecture Hall to the Crown classrooms in fifteen minutes?

It's not easy to get to Crown from anywhere, my friend. But yeah, it's definately do-able. First quarter of last year I had a class at theater arts that was 15 minutes before a Crown class (Thinman is about 2/5ths of the way toward Crown from theater arts) and was never late (although often sweaty). And I ran half the way, so you don't even have to worry about that.

Overview of the Universe is bullshit, I hear. Often. You'll get an A and kill a GE, but you won't learn anything. Nature of Science (philosophy) kills the science GE if that's all you're looking at doing, and it was on the borderline between good and really good (although I was in the relative minority in thinking so). But quality of the lectures aside, the substance of the class was really interesting/worthwhile, so I'd recomend that.

Look forward to seeing you, man. When do you get out there?

There are good chances that you'll have a section for at least one of the other classes as well. They don't always tell you online if there's a section.

The same one I used to use, I just haven't been coming on again. I'm so bad at internet communication. Which is ironic. And now I'm going to London, but I'll be back soon.

I wanted to after orientation, but my cell phone died. I couldn't think of any other way to find you. How is it going up there?

take a real science! anonymous July 13 2004, 19:28:48 UTC
Hi, it's Eva! I seriously think you will be happier if you take a real science as opposed to the "earthquakes and you" variety. This campus has an amazing science program and it's fun to try things out. -ME
