I personally don't think John F. Kennedy was a 'good President' (except for his support of the space program, which was very cool) - I was sad when he got shot, but he was involved up to his eyebrows with criminal individuals and agencies all along, so it was no big surprise that eventually one (or more) of them did him in. But he wasn't primarily responsible for the fucked-up state of the world today.
There have been about a zillion studies over the past half-century, clearly demonstrating that yes, violent media de-sensitizes people to violence, glamorizes violence, provides 'tutorials' in how to commit violence... none of which can be called causation per se, but all of which are indisputably contributing

Proof? Here. Kennedy wasn't elected until 1961. The Hidden Persuaders was published in 1957, The Status Seekers in 1959, and The Waste Makers in 1960.
