playing a Good character vs combat and killing people

The way we play larp in our country involves combat. We like that, it's part of the fun. If you want to have fun at a Dutch larp event, you have to sit down and think about how your character reacts in combat situations and how your character feels about killing people, friend or foe. Making combat the default conflict resolution is lazy storytelling. I understand that there are logistical reason why this is so in a LARP -- but I think tense negotiations are as dramatic (if not more dramatic) than simply hacking away at the opposition.

It's not the default. It is a plot device among others. That's lazy reading, my friend.

Touché.

Now I wonder what would happen if the PCs would start to take prisoners, and the number of prisoners would steadily increase beyond their capacity to cope. I think this would make an interesting table-top scenario as well.

GM's get very grumpy with you if you hog all their NPC's.

True. It's impossible to mourn about losses the way you should in real life.
Larp is not real, so mourn 5/15/30 minutes (depending on your relationship with the victim) and than go on. The weekend is to short to mourn 3 days.

Sounds reasonable. Everything is shorter in larp. An elf would befriend a human only after 10 years of careful observation - in larp, this happens in one weekend. You simply don't have the time to wait, wait and wait...

If something causes your character to experience cognitive dissonance, I'm sure any of the usual strategies of coping with that would be an option.
