Today was my first day as an MA student. The semester only starts on April 15 but I'm doing a compact course of area studies UK for my language modules. They are the boring classes that require very little work but can be extremely annoying. I had two last semester that were a nightmare. I renamed the bothersome chapter and now it works. I'm amazed but I'm also really starting to lose motivation. I have a (semi)final version now that I can print and bind on Monday. Semi because I'll probably reread it one last time tomorrow because even though I know that it will be stressful, I'll feel guilty if I don't ( Read more... ) -

Aside from one somewhat problematic chapter, I'm really happy with my BA thesis as it stands now. I've been trying to think of how to solve the problems in the chapter I dislike but I have no idea how to approach the whole thing and maybe it's not that big an issue as I'm making it out to be and nobody will mind that it's a little less precise than ( Read more... ) -

(Because I'm a boring person) I'm at a write-in for academic papers tonight. We got here over an hour ago and the write-in is till 1.30am though we might opt to leave earlier to catch a bus. My goal for tonight is to get through all the comments Melanie wrote and correct / rewrite stuff she complained about in the BA thesis. I'm slow so far and am ( Read more... ) -

About 3k to go before this BA thesis is done. I'm currently at 12k but am estimating that I'll need to write another 3 which shouldn't be a problem. I need to get the second draft done by next Wednesday which could be a problem though. So, I've been super unproductive this weekend. I had wanted to write the second draft of my Joy Luck Club paper (I threw the first one out because it was messy and I always throw the first draft out though most times, I haven't written 80% before I throw it out). My Asian lit class got cancelled yesterday because aside from thr instructor (Mrs. Gruber whom I love and adore and who is my advisor for the BA thesis), I was the only one to show up. This isn't very surprising because it's a tiny class with five participants although two seem to have dropped out and neber told anyone. I'm the only one who's come ( Read more... ) -

My MA applications are almost done. I haven't even put them in envelopes but I'm already nervous. I still need to pass seven exams, write two papers, finish my thesis and pass my oral exam. That sounds like sooo much when I write it out like that. Still, the end's in sight.
