Heather was sitting at Bailey’s, nursing a glass of water while waiting for her food when she saw Emily come in - alone for once. She called her over and demanded she stay for lunch.

“Sorry, can’t, just picking up lunch to go.”

“For you and Jake?”

“And Eric and Gray and Hawkins and Jimmy and Bill.”

...sigh...I sooo needed this on Thursday. I actually checked LJ that evening with the wistful hope that I had some new Heck fic to read - so thanks!

I do love this story - I love the little snippet of Heather/Beck's relationship without Beck being in the room. If Emily doesn't figure out that Heather's smitten, then she's really not a very good best friend (...no. I'll leave it at that. :D ).

I found the story of Emily and the birth control pills intriguing. I giggled like mad at Beck being a bit of Luddite - percussive repair *hee* - and the whole "he smiled, hell hath frozen over" bit was hilarious.

Oh, and the line from Crusade - it's been so long since I saw that series. :( Ummm...I'm going to guess the "limited supply of teachers at the end of the world. My job is secure."

Awesome chapter. Looking forward to more. :)
