I have another batch of icons to post soon, but I just applied at a couple communities and am waiting to hear back from one. I figure I'll wait so I can post these there, too, if I'm accepted ( Read more... )

Are you on the debate team? Or was that for speech class?

Cool! Me too! What event(s) do you do?

In grades nine and ten, I did Congress. However, I started to fall asleep during sessions.

This year, I'm starting with either prose or kiddy lit to do in SC.

Heh. I've never done any debate events. I would probably fall asleep, too. And I would get bored of doing research. I do interp events. Prose and DI.

What state do you live in? I know the events and rules differ around states. And what's SC?

I have a friend who was looking through some kiddy lit for a humerous something or other.

Woohoo, speech! I took speech in ninth grade and we did mostly original stuff like persuasive speeches and the like, but at the end I did an Oral Interpretation of the prologue to The Nanny Diaries and it went really well :) It's a great piece, but it has to be cut a lot to get it down to ten minutes. Good stuff though :)

I had a copy of the Nanny Diaries to look at today! Didn't get around to it, though. I thought I'd skim through parts of it on Thursday. A couple people actually got into a little debate about it. Would you consider it better for humorous or dramatic interp?

Humorous, definitely. Especially if you do the intro, it's very sarcastic, sort of biting humor :) Much fun :)
