The smell of papers and paints are strong. Paint brushes and crayons were seen around the studio. Sketch papers with drawings of a man were scattered all around the studio. And a guy named Ueda Tatsuya was sitting in the middle of the room, holding onto a picture of someone precious to him close to his heart, sobbing quietly. There he sat, wearing a big shirt that belongs to his first love, the guy who he cherish dearly, the guy who he loves until today, the guy that occupied his mind, the guy that broke his heart, and went away, leaving him alone in the dark. Leaving him shattered on the floor. Leaving him crying, without looking back, and kept on walking forward, till he reached the door, and walk out of the door. Walk out of Ueda Tatsuya’s life. The legendary Nishikido Ryo.
Ever since Ryo left Ueda, Ueda was in misery. He woke up in the morning, scrambled into his studio, grab a paper and a pencil, and sketch a picture of Ryo. He would sketch Ryo’s face, Ryo’s guitar, Ryo’s silhouette, Ryo’s hand, Ryo’s mesmerizing black eyes, Ryo’s smile. He sketched. And sketched. And sketched. Until he snapped back into reality, look around the studio, filled with Ryo, fell on his knees and cry. And cry. And cry.
But today, it was different. He woke up, gently took hold of a picture of Ryo that he secretly took one day -of Ryo smiling shyly while playing the guitar that he loves- and walked into his studio and sat in the middle of the room. He stares at the picture and caress it gently, hoping that maybe, maybe he would be able to feel the radiant heat from Ryo’s cheeks. No. He can’t. Slowly, warm liquid brimmed his eyes and tears rolled down his pale cheeks. Silently, cried he did. He brought the picture and place it on his chest, and sob he did. More tears rolled down those delicate face.
He recalled the day they’ve met. When he bumped into that musician -yes, Nishikido Ryo is a musician- on a sidewalk, with brown leaves flying around them freely, from the tip of some trees till they hit the sidewalk, and stood still, lifeless. Their eyes met, and snap. They fell in love. And from then onwards, their story has begun.
Their love was innocent. Raw. Lively. Romantic. Fun. Joyful. Emotional. Sweet. It’s what everyone wants. They trust each other, they treasure each other, also grateful to have each other. Their days were full of soft kisses, whispers, laughters, shy smiles, small precious gestures that would make them shiver. There’s some nights where the room was full of moans, skin slapping, erotic sounds, sweats, bodies fitted perfectly with each other. And there was nights where they just share soft kisses, and whispers to each other, as if afraid that their voice would wake up an infant from her deep slumber. But the, on one fateful day, it changed.
Ueda sobbed harder wondering why, how did they ended up separated? Why did he have to feel this unbearable pain? What on earth did he do to someone up there until they make him like this? How could Ryo left him?
A lot of flashback came. There’s this one scene where Ryo finished writing a love song. He was too ecstatic to sing it to Ueda. So ignoring the fact that Ueda has to finish sketching a woman and its poodle by that weekend, he grabbed his guitar and Ueda’s arm, and brought them to the centre of the room, and sat down, bringing down Ueda as well. Ueda wanted to struggle out of the grip and continues his work. But then Ryo pleaded and pleaded, and Ueda sat in front of Ryo, gesturing his head to signal Ryo to start singing. And Ryo sang beautifully. Eyes concentrating on the guitar, he sang that song, full with emotions, focusing on singing it nicely to Ueda. Ueda slowly close his eyes, concentrating on Ryo’s husky voice, a small smile decorated his face. Minutes later, Ryo finished singing and look up to stare at Ueda’s features. He put down his guitar and pulls the still closed eyes Ueda closer to him. Ueda jumped, shocked by the latter’s action, but then relaxed when his back hit Ryo’s chest. Ryo circled his arms around Ueda’s shoulder, bringing them closer and gently sway their bodies side to side. Ueda smiled, and rested his palms on Ryo’s arms, squeezing it time to time. Softly, Ryo whispers to Ueda’s left ear, ‘I love you’ and pecked his ear. Ueda chuckled shyly and a ‘I love you too’ escaped his plump, cherry-like lips. And then, they let the sweet silence engulfs them warmly, enjoying the presence of each other.
How he wish he could replay the scene again now. He did wished upon the stars, but none of them listened to Ueda’s pleas, ignoring his broken voice, ignoring the little guy’s pity words.
Here he is, cryin his heart out, now sobbing loudly, clutching the picture on his chest, blaming the stars for not giving him the chance.
And there he goes again, remembering that bastard who dared leaving him behind. He would wondered if Ryo would ever, by any chance, remembered him, remembered the memories they had, reminiscing the moments where they enjoyed their selves. Just like what he’s doing now.
Again, memories flooded his head. Another one. And another one. The one where he woke up early, not doing anything else but stare at the face of the person sleeping peacefully beside him. The one where Ryo would caress his face. The one when Ryo took care of him when he fell sick. Stupid hay fever.
He loved how Ryo would bring him out on dates, walking beside him with his hands in his jeans pockets. He loved how Ryo would suddenly leaned near him and whispered those three magical words. He loved how Ryo would suddenly kiss him passionately when Ueda started to grumbled about some stupid over demanding customers.
And there were days when Ueda planned that Ryo should just moved into his apartment. When Ueda planned on surprising Ryo on his birthday. When Ueda planned on the days where they would visit the deers and otters and dolphins at the zoo. But he never, ever planned on watching the day when Ryo would gave him his last kiss.
Ueda clutched more on the picture, saying Ryo’s name again and again. Until the day turned into night. Until his throat started to sore. Until the sobs started to decrease little by little. Until he laid down on the floor. Until his sobs finally stopped. Until he closed his eyes slowly. And he let the tiredness overcome his weak body. Letting the dreams of Ryo calms him down.
And surely, the next morning, he would scrambled around the room, in search of a paper and a pencil, and draw the picture of Ryo.
So I'll go sit on the floor
Wearing your clothes
All that I know is that
I don't know how to be something you miss
Never thought we'd have a last kiss
Never imagined we'd end like this
Your name, forever the name on my lips
Just like our last kiss
Forever the name on my lips
Forever the name on my lips
Just like our last
