Well, first off, tonight I'm hanging my latest solo show which I'm calling the "NYC Horror Show." Every piece represents one of those things that folks who dwell here in the city fear. Think... bedbugs or crazy cab drivers and things like that. It's been a lot of spooky fun to work on and a healthy way to vent my frustration at our own bedbug ( Read more... )

I can ask what their policy with things is tonight when I go to hang the show. Would love for you to be able to see it!

Excellent concept for subject matter. I'm especially interested in seeing your crazy cab drivers since my NYC experiences with such are 50% unpleasant, with one notable one filed under "Jesus Christ just stop the car; I want to get the fuck away from you."

I've always "hated" cab drivers, but I never truly hated them until I was in a really bad accident in one a few years ago and had to climb out of the window. Thank god I ALWAYS wear my seat belt even in cabs (I'll never get why people don't in cabs?) I've only had one driver... ONE!... who I thought was friendly, polite, and a good driver!

And this is why I, at all costs, try to take the subway unless a cab is of utmost necessity.

I take the subway because it's cheaper. 7.50 for an all-day pass vs. constantly having to open the wallet every time you want to go somewhere, plus the subway doesn't expect a tip.

Worst cabbie ever: the nutjob (schizophrenic? maybe, I wasn't about to ask him what his diagnosis was) that muttered angrily to himself the whole ride, picking at the stubble on his face obsessively with what appeared to be sandpaper between his fingers, and reading a catalog at every red light and not driving on the green until someone behind honked their horn. We bolted as soon as possible.

we should have taken pictures of the art we lost, so at least we could enjoy it from time to time.

*D'oh* Right you are, husbandteardrop. It also would've been fun to show everyone what we were bigging on! A figure self-decapitated with a sword holding a human hart painted on paper made out of elephant dung. Awesome. :)

It's on Atlantic Ave. It'll be up late tonight until....??? We haven't sorted out all the specific details yet! I assume we'll talk about all this stuff tonight.

Haha. I love that everyone has a crazy cab story. That's great. One time a driver kicked me out because I was eating a cookie. Really he just didn't want to drive to Brooklyn, but he told me eating was not allowed. I was uncharacteristically drunk and I got in a huge fight with him about it and kept telling him I was going to report him and stuff. Of course, I never did...because there just is no point. But it was fun. :)
