Fantastic...

...Mr. Fox! Is a grand little movie. It has very little relation to the Roald Dahl book of the same name, but in a good way. Instead of being a poorly scripted abridgement, I found it a sprightly-paced story that's fully its own, with wonderful wit and visuals. See it if you haven't!

Oh, you should definitely see it! I thought of you, but I was afraid that it would go out of theaters soon, since it doesn't seem to be getting very good attendance despite getting great reviews (at least here in D.C.). That seemed to happen to both Wild Things and Astro Boy, and I didn't want to miss the train on this one.

I am coming home the evening of the 18th and leaving the morning of the 28th. Barring the 19th, 24th and 25th, you have your pick of any other date in the interval!

I don't know what else will be showing, but perhaps you'd like to see James Cameron's Avatar? I saw a really short preview for it and it looks interesting, in a potentially dangerous way. Like, on the surface it seems like a film made for furries based on Fern Gully...which, when I phrase it that way, actually makes it sound terrifying. Um. It might lead to interesting discussions on race and colonialism?

...I'm open to other suggestions. >_>

No I getcha. XD I gotta see it before it leaves theaters myself.

Maybe Sunday the 20th or the weekend after Christmas? OR BOTH

I dunno, I can't really get into Avatar...I don't like what I've seen of it, though I haven't seen much. What about Sherlock Holmes with RDJ? It looks ridiculous but in a potentially awesome way XD

Oh my goodness, is Sherlock Holmes opening?! Then yes, we MUST see that. Shirtless fisticuffs! Ridiculous looking plotline! Jude Law as Doctor Watson!

THE GAME IS AFOOT. >D

I saw it with my sister, and it completely delighted me. I didn't know it was a Wes Anderson film until the credits rolled, at which point I facepalmed and said "I should have guessed THAT." xD

Delightful beyond words! I was happy that it was able to deal with a few Serious Things while still maintaining a light tone throughout. However I must make the sad disclosure that this is the first Wes Anderson film I have ever seen. Now, clearly, my eyes have been opened and I must seek out his other works. :D

Really?! Go get Rushmore right now. Then The Royal Tenenbaums. Then The Life Aquatic. When it comes to Wes, I've found that people either love him or hate him. I personally adore him to bits. :D The music in all of his films is brilliant. That should have been my first clue about Fantastic Mr. Fox.
