Febreeze smell

I obtained a oversized chair and ottoman from my grandparents. Unfortunately, my Grandma is the queen of Febreeze. It's not smelling up the whole house luckily, but if you sit on it, you definately smell it. Chemicals and odors bother me a lot so I'm wondering what's the best thing to use to get rid of the smell? Spray with a mixture half vodka half water. Keep doing it until the nasty smell goes away. :)

oh the loss of VODKA!!!!!!!!!!!!! would rubbing alcohol work so that we could save the vodka? i have a lot of very lonely tonic and Sprite zero! ;)

i'll use the smirnoff, as i hate the after taste of that one anyway. The belvedere vodka, however is only for consumption - maybe while spritzing our chair down with the smirnoff...I have some furniture that has a similar issue as the OP, which is why i was reading the thread ;)

Gah! I hate Febreeze(!) so I feel your pain. The stuff gives me a headache and smells atrocious, just as bad as garbage, imo, though if I had to choose I would choose the garbage because it wouldn't give me a headache.

I second the idea of vinegar, steam cleaning, more baking soda, and fresh air and sunlight. Really, anything you can throw at it to get rid of the smell.

if it were me I'd do repeated baking soda applications (the longer you let it sit, the better IMHO) and also spritz with vinegar water solution! vinegar is great for absorbing odors.
