Hand soap

I'm looking for a very gentle hand soap that is readily available at a store to send to my daughter's school for her.  Preferably something foaming, since this is easier to rinse off.  I do have a decent natural food store nearby, but no Whole Foods or Trader Joe's.  My daughter's school uses Dial and she has developed a sensitivity to it, leaving ( Read more... )

As people in the food and medical industries know, super-frequent handwashing, while it can be necessary, is also really drying to the skin. If there's a plain, hypoallergenic moisturizer she tolerates, have her use it on her hands a few times a day and that might help.

The secret to foaming hand soap is the dispenser. If you water down something like castile soap, or another gentle and mild soap, so that it's watery in consistency, it should work in a foaming soap dispenser.

this - i was amazed to learn that foaming soap is really just 1 part soap to (give or take) 8 parts water! i started making my own after that, and it's saved us a ton! just buy one dispenser, use it up, and then when it's empty fill the bottom with a regular liquid soap of your choice and the rest with water; swish it gently and you've got foaming soap!

Have you tried this with adding some moisturizers or lotions in with it? Sort of making my own moisturizing handsoap so she doesn't have to deal with lotion at school too?

We use Babyganics foaming hand wash. I get mine at Babies R Us, but you can order online as well. It's mainly vegetable based and never dries out our hands. You can buy big refill bottles as well.

Im starting to have a similar issue and need to figure it out.. My daughter is in kindy and I cant buy special soap for the whole class. It isnt practical for a 5 year old to carry soap around to different bathrooms in the school.

Good Luck and Ill watch what folks are saying

Luckily there are only 30 kids in the entire school, and five in her class. Many of the kids have special needs, so the staff is used to different requests like that. I figure if she can just cut down on the use of the dial some, and leave lotion in her classroom it will help.

Vi only has 16 in her class but they use multiple bathrooms in the building. She would have to carry it around with her or have a teacher hand it to her.

Do your supermarkets sell Burt's Bees bath/shower gel? We use that as hand soap a lot; I particularly like the ginger-grapefruit variety.

I guess I could use her bath soap in a dispenser, thanks!

LAURA!!

Have you tried Method? We've been using their foaming hand soap for several years and really like it. It doesn't contain triclosan and you can find it at Target and Meijer.

ERICA!!

No we haven't! I'm about ready to just dip this girl in Vaseline and saran wrap her. Every time I think we've got her skin issues under control, some other issue pops up. At least we got the eczema on her vulva under control...
