hi guys. newbie here. i'm planning on starting the no 'poo thing today. (i've been thinking of it for a few months, but now i'm ready to take the plunge) i read babyslime's entry and the majority of your memories, but the one thing i'm curious about is henna.
i dye with henna every other month or so, then i use a bunch of shampoo and conditioner (i been using wholefoods' 365 brand) to get it all out at the end of the treatment.
so, those of you who use henna, and no 'poo, how do you remove all the particles of henna? do any of you make henna teas and use it in your rinse? any techniques involving henna and no 'poo is greatly appreciated. :-) would it be okay if i used a non SLS shampoo during these occasions? if so, any reccommendations? (edit, i found the appropriate memory for this one, but feel free to chime in if you want)
oh! yeah, i've never had dandruff in my life, and a few months ago, i've started to notice my scalp getting really flaky (and sometimes itchy). the dandruff was sticking to my scalp, and i'd scratch at it and it'd come off in giant thick flakes. bleargh! i'd scrub and scrub with shampoo, and i'd look in the mirror after the shower, and the flakes wouldn't budge! so here's hoping the baking soda'll do it's job.
(does unrefined sugar act more like white sugar or brown sugar in this regimen? should i go and buy brown sugar for this? i'm assuming demarara sugar pieces are too large? thank ya, thank ya)
(i'll take before and after pics.)
