clementines and shea butter

over the summer i bought a huge blob of raw shea butter. its weird looking and smelling and im not quite sure what i was thinking when i bought it. but i recently had a great idea! I bought a box of clementines and have been keeping the rinds. im going to dry and powder the rind and use that in some home made bath stuff. bath salts with clementine ( Read more... )

I think a great idea wold also be to add lanolin to it (unless you are vegan)and a couple drops of lavender essential oil to make a really nice nail and cuticle moisturizer. Lanolin comes from sheep's wool, and is very close to human skin sebum, but for some people it can cause allergies, so test it first. I have not personally had any problems with it nor do I know anyone who does. Lanolin does smell a little strong, but the lotions I have made with it have been praised by people as being very beneficial for dry hands.

You can use it in the place of cocoa butter in recipes also. Some people use shea butter on its own for moisturizing heel, knees, cuticles, etc.
