Some doors may have shut, but others seem to be opening; a little bit of give-and-take never hurt, I suppose. It would be awesome if your professor could get you an in and jumpstart your career. As for the Grad degree, you may even choose to do it part-time in the evenings instead of devoting extra time to completing it; it was what I was originally planning to do with my transportation engineering master's, and I figured I could have it with only two years of part-time evening classes. While I think it would be a little bit tougher given your field, it's probably something to look in to regardless - who knows how things could fall in place?

Other than that, good luck with your classes! It's always nice to take those clases you want to take and not those that you have to. Hope all goes well with your certification too. =)

Unfortunately, Science Grad degrees can't be obtained through part time work because of the degree needing research and then publishing which is why it is full time work and I get paid to do it as well as health insurance and my tuition waved. It is almost like getting a job. So, yeah.

Well, my teacher also said that I can still get pretty far in the government without a grad degree since experience working for the government counts the same as a grad degree so yeah, at this point, if I get to grad school, awesome but if I get into the government now, awesome.
