It's sad just how much I've drifted from Who-dom during this latest season. It never even occurred to me to relate the kiss/screwdriver quote to Rose directly. Shame on me.
Moffat's disregard for continuity other than his own, such as the paradox problem of young and old Kazran touching, irked me as well. I also actually rather disliked Kazran and Abigail - yes, she was a good influence on him until she revealed her situation, but he was essentially her jailer. Too Stockholm Syndrome for me.
Yeah there were def some issues where K/A were concerned, like the fact too that she was not really much more than a plot point, a means to an end, rather than a real person, a 3D character...
LOL Did you forget Madame de Pompadour? She was the perfect blonde girl and she didn't nothing special (aside from being a very accomplished lover and gardener) for the Doctor go crazy about her and forget Rose and the TARDIS. More 2D than that it can't get. Let's be happy Abigail didn't turn out another love failed love story for the Doctor. That's why I think I liked K/A romance, more about relived than really liking it LOL
IDK, Madame Pompadour had serious issues too, but she still seemed to have a little more spark in her, perhaps because the awesome and wonderful Sophia Myles plays her (I love her work). But yes, def. a relief that she at least didn't become a random LI for the Doctor!
Love all your spams here! :). That reminds me though, how fail they didn't include a line about the Doctor having met Dickens once, when the whole thing centers on his book! I liked this alright, though I had some serious issues (which I go into more detail about on my journal).
I initially felt the same way about the screwdriver line, but that was when I thought he said "new kind of sonic screwdriver"--since he says just new kind of screwdriver though, I think it might actually just be ref. to the creation of the first, original sonic screwdriver in his youth. I did think of Rose initially though!
And Eleven did have some nice angsty expressions here, though 9 could certainly bring on the angst as well, esp. where Rose was concerned...
Yeah, they failed in a lot of things, but this is DW XD Let's not overanalyzed the whole thing LOL
But in overall, I thought they did a good job!
Well, we have to agree to disagree about the screwdriver thing XD I really think he refered about Rose in that one, because the second doctor, who appeared for the first time with the sonic, didn't have a romantic interest who he'd regret to never have kissed when he could. So, I really think when he said a new kind of screwdriver he meant a better version of his old one XD Also, the Doctor refered to his sonic screwdriver, just screwdriver before, so I don't think it's about the creation of the first one XD
And Matt is good doing angst face! He looked like he was suffering from his memories! A+ for that one XD
Oh, is that so, re: Two? I don't know my classic Who, so I assumed he'd had it from the beginning...but in that case then maybe my first interpretation (which like you imagined Ten designing 11's new screwdriver while angsting about never kissing Rose and seeing Cloen do it) could be valid then after all! :). That's be nice...
It's okay XD But sonic is a very old thing ahahahahaha I'm watching Classic Who, that's why I know a little more about DW story XD The Doctor updated his screwdriver time from time ^^
I really think my interpretation is valid LOL The only girl the Doctor would angst is Rose (and the only one he totally did for more than one episode) XD
Old Who the Doctor is basically asexual, just in his eighth incarnation he starts to become more aware of sex ^^ So, Eleven can only refer about his romance with Rose.
