I personally intend on keeping all of my friends, not replacing them. Also, there's other reasons for preferring school to being home and vice versa. Some people like the mental stimulation, some like the people they meet and the opportunities they have. Basically, college is about finding who you are and sometimes that journey is more fun than the same thing one is used to, such as their hometown and so on. Whether you commute or live on campus, college is what you make of it and it's supposed to help guide the rest of the person's life.
^ Heather put it very well. i have many reasons for feeling more at home at school. For one, I am 21 and ready to move out of my parents house. I still have fucking curfews!!! Do you know how restraining and limiting that is? I dont feel like an adult and my own person and I am ready to be. I get lectured constantly by my dad and I feel like Im walking on eggshells in my own house

well this wasn't targeted at either of you but my point wasn't precisely that you are throwing out the old friends (tho alot of people do that) but that it will be hard to stay in touch with them

^.^ I am sure there are many many interesting people in this world, but I do agree with Zack, friends that you keep in touch with are not the exact same thing as close friends.
~its just opinion based, some people like the thrill of meeting new people often, but I suppose I am a bit too sentimental to start caring about every person I meet.... and I believe it would be a little... insincere.. of me to meet and hang out with people all the time whom I don't particular care about at all.
