Are you going to post it somewhere it can be downloaded as a single complete file (like AO3)? I fell behind after the first couple of installments, and at 26 parts it's long enough I'd rather put it on my Kindle, but also long enough I know I'm never going to get around to getting all the parts and combining them myself. (Yes, lazy reader here, wants you to do all the work...)
I could put all three google doc files together into a single file easily enough, but I'm not sure what to do with it after that. Would a google doc file work? Do I need to convert it to something else? Can I post it on LJ?
I'd be happy to do that with all the long fics if I just knew how.
You'll have to go to the Archive of Our Own" site for details, but I think they have a simple paste-and-upload form for new fics. -- Their FAQ, unfortunately, talks more about the Cool Stuff and Complicated Stuff than about basics like what kind of formats they might accept, & since I haven't finished writing any fic in a very long time I haven't made the experiment myself. But from a reader pov they're great!
You need an account to post there, and they're still in beta, but they'll give out invites on request.
Also, there's a length limit for fic chapters on LJ, but not so much on Dreamwidth - if you're not set up there yet and want to be, I can send you an invite code.
This was all quite shiny, and I love that the door is open to further adventures--there is so much more to mine in your Firefly 'verse. This has been like having old friends back :-)
I enjoyed it! In fact I think Tabz contacted you a while ago about podcasting "I wish I was Somebody Else" on Tales From The 'Verse? I've been recording the first few chapters and now doing basic editing. If that gets finished one day, I would love to read Four Winds too. Thank you, thank you for letting us walk another mile in the beloved 'Verse. Your characterizations have been great.
Thank you so much for the kind words! I'm thrilled to think that "Wish I Was Somebody Else" could find a new audience. I'd love to hear it once it's done; what's y'all's web address?
