FWIW I like the Donald Miller-- perhaps particularly in contrast to Blue Like Jazz, which struck m a Holden Caulfield in faith world. He hates (nearly) everything Christian, because it's nearly all phony. In A Million Miles in a Thousand Years he gets down to the honest work of responsible building of positives.
I really enjoyed reading A Million Miles - picked it up and devoured it while making dinner, eating dinner, and folding laundry. I've just started Blue like Jazz, which is a bit harder to read - or maybe because it was 10 at night. I am enjoying his honesty, and the idea of living a better story.
