1. boston:
   The city, not the band. I don't know, I've just always found it beautiful. Especially the cobblestone sidewalks (and roads?) I've seen quite a few wonderful performances there (theatrical). I remember walking through a park in early winter and there was a light dusty snow covering everything, the trees were brown though evergreens had a bit of their color showing through,and I found a small empty bottle of old spice. Like travel size or something. I picked it up and loved the smell. I don't remember how little I was then.
2. cranes:
   The band, not the bird, although the birds aren't so bad. Innocent chaos.
3. folk:
   People? Music? Both. There was a quote about LBJ, and it's highlighted in some book downstairs, but the jist of it is: I don't like persons, though I love people.
4. hip-hop:
   There's a lot of shit out there, but The Roots never cease to please. I like the positiveness of it, counters all the moody and depressing shit I tend to listen to more often than not.
5. liberal:
   Right - left, conservative - liberal, all these labels, but really I believe in fairness. Be fucking considerate. How does playing follow the leader do anyone any good?
6. mountains:
   Beautiful. I miss them in my landscape. On my horizon. Hiking up them is great, getting to the top is so incredibly rewarding.
7. portishead:
   Not much to say, except yeah.
8. sigur ros:
   Listening to it now. The new album Takk. Great music to write to. Their music seems to work toward many moods I require in writing.
9. swans:
   Again, the band. Again, not much to say.
10. trespassers william:
    Another band. I've heard some call it slo-core. Moody, female vocalist, can find her on cd baby, which is where I got the two albums of hers I have. Different Stars is by far the superior album.
