Remembering the Lake Blob

Just a little while ago, I was having a lovely dinner with my parents and Sketchy and watching an episode of Jeopardy. The final category was "2005 Commencement Speeches" and the answer was a quote-- advice given including reading voraciously and never leaving Maine (to which I blurted, "Stephen King!" and unlike two out of three contestants, I ( Read more... )

I can relate. leisha0806 August 10 2006, 03:50:31 UTC
I understand where you're coming from in this entry. I feel that I'm in the same boat with you. My brother is an adult right now, and has a real job in corporate america. He doesn't need his older sister to take care of him, or to guide him in life anymore. He's doing pretty well on his own. I also no longer have the boyfriend, that needs to be taken care of anymore. When you brought that's why you got the kitten, is probably why I ask my parents if I can get my own puppy.

Out of everyone I've ever known, you and John have the best sibling relationship. It's so great to see another set of siblings that are really close-- I always liked that about the two of you. Like me, you've always valued your family above everything else, and that's something that I've always admired. Anyway, what I'm trying to say is that I'm really glad you understand.

I think a puppy would be perfect for you... I hope your mom and dad let you bring one home :)

You're such a caring, loving, nurturing person, so that doesn't surprise me at all :)

You are such a good sister. I wish I had memories like that.

I have some fond memories of my younger sister but my older brothers pretty much ignored me as a kid, and as a result of that I tend to ignore them now. It's their loss.

I still want to meet your kitten.

I bet she'd like to meet you too! I'm leaving for Florida tomorrow, but I'd love to bring her by at some point when I come home.

I want to see her before she gets big... while she's still in that kitten stage. :)
