Hand-washing!!!

Aug 21, 2006 02:04

I'm really sorry to bring this up in a livejournal post, but... people really don't know how to wash their hands properly!

Hand washing should take you at least one and a half minutes.  Today, i got told i wash my hands 'too much' and 'compulsively' -- my reply? "Sorry... MRSA isn't on my christmas list..." -- and it's true.  You really need to ( Read more... )

i definetily agree with the correct way of washing our hands (especially when assholes come out of the wc at a bar without even washing them...eww)
but, won't all these instructions may lead someone to a somewhat obssesive repeated action [and i'm not even mentioning an OCD (obssesive compulsive disorder)]...?

don't get me wrong. as i said, i totally agree with these hygiene rules and try to follow them by line, but, as i've come across with people who were ...erm... really obssesive about cleaning and washing and again cleaning their hands or something else generally, for that matter, it could get really scary...

i just wish everyone would understand the importance of the hygiene, even of these small and simple things like washing hands...

Hi there,

I know what you mean, completely. I've been Obsessive Compulsive for a few years now, so i guess i am one of those who take hand-washing to an extreme.

However, 'all of these instructions' are one of the few things i think it's good to obsess about! Washing your hands is, as you obviously understand, vitaly important - not only for us but for those around us...

Obsessive Compulsive Disorder is usually brought on by an experience causing someone to feel unclean (physically or mentally - such as becoming ill or being raped as two common examples).

These instructions are highly recomended by medical professionals the world over... i'm posting them to both encourage people to wash their hands propperly and at appropriate times, and also to give them a clue as to which areas are missed most often... Nails, hand-web (between thumb and index), between fingers, wrists...

Thank you for reading and replying!
