Housing?

Sorry if this isn't "appropriate" for the group, but had a quick question--we're thinking about moving into military housing in the San Diego area. I see on the website (www.lincolnmilitaryhousing.com) that there are a few communities that allow dogs--aside from breed restrictions, does anyone know of any weight restrictions in these communities ( ( Read more... )

You can always contact the housing office and ask them about weight limits. I'm on the East Coast, and so far I haven't run into that problem (although I have seen things like neutering and must be housebroken), but having a service dog gets me around a lot of that.

Is that a lab in your icon? He's a cutie!

I live in Murphy Canyon currently. I know they take dogs (any size) but the waiting list is 2-4 months. It is actually "bad" here that they are allowing people to move into houses that they don't need the amount of bedrooms they have (a couple living in a 2 bed, a family of 4 living in a 4 bed...) so it kind of ticks me off.

My hubby says Admiral Hartman housing is E-6 and up and takes dogs. Again housing has a wait list.

There are no weights limits or breed restrictions that I know of (at least here in MC). Murphy Canyon has many mini comms in it; Santo Terrace, Orleck Heights, Aero Ridge, then officer housing. They all accept dogs though some of our neighbors did have vicious dogs that really should not be allowed in housing but were.

Any more info you need, let me know!

This site breaks it down more as far as what types of pets are allowed where, and if there are weight restrictions :) Also gives you an idea of the wait times for each community.

(don't mind the certificate error, most military sites seem to do that)

I have no idea but living offbase is much better than living onbase. My husband and I are hopefully moving to San Diego next year. GL!

Yes and no. I'm really looking forward to living on base with our upcoming move. Getting around is a problem for me (I'm in a wheelchair p/t, use a cane elsewise), so having everything close by is a big plus for us. I really don't mind giving up some autonomy in return for convenience. ;) Besides, very few public schools let the kids walk/bike in any more.
