What would he get in trouble for? That's weird. I think you should definitely call your ombudsman. As long as you're just calling to get info and help, I can't imagine why he would get in trouble.

This is the biggest misconception among active duty! Contact your ombudsman. They are there to help, not punish. I'm actually the ombudsman for my husband's ship. You might try calling the movers, etc and explaining the situation. They might require something from the Navy showing they are breaking his orders. He should be able to get this from his command, and this should be something the ombudsman could help coordinate getting.

That's the ombudsmen's job! She is there to help you with things like this. They have access to information and resources that others might not know about. Definitely contact her!

Than you so much ladies!!

Well, I spoke with the Ombudsman and she put me in touch with the command secretary on the ship. They pretty much had no sympathy for my situation at all.

His orders have been canceled, and he will stay here. I have lost my job...been replaced already and would have to reapply and SEE if they have a job for me.

Decided to move anyway since hubby will start a long deployment in just three months. It just stinks all the way around. But I do thank everyone who posted comments. :)

Why would he get in trouble if you contact the ombudsman? Strange... I'm not sure what advice to give as I've never been in that situation before but good luck.
