I have a question. After my son's eye exam at school, it was determined he needed an actual eye appointment which I made easily and everything. My problem comes from this: TriCare Prime doesn't cover glasses? At all? Unless it's "medically necessary". So though he can get the eye exam we have to pay for glasses, should he need them, completely out ( Read more... )

Yep. My son has had glasses since he was nine or so. the best bet is to buy them from the NEX, or somewhere that offers military discounts.

right...they don't cover glasses for typical vision problems. there are a select few medical conditions where they will cover glasses...but it has to be more than just vision stuff. we buy new glasses for my son every year. we've found sears to be affordable, they had some frames that were only $49, and the lenses are free. what i liked there is you can buy the protection plan and then they cover anything that happens to the glasses except loss.

Correct. They don't pay for contact lenses either.

Correct most insurances don't cover glasses including tricare.
