"May the odds be ever in your favor!"

So there's this movie that came out this weekend. I've even heard it's based on a book or three. "The Starvation Activities," I think... right? (Synonyms provided by my boys, by the way.)

...

Nah, it's The Hunger Games!

If the Hunger Games books are any kind of love story, they're about how much Katniss loves Prim. No couples required :)

That's the best comment I've seen on it yet. I just didn't feel romantic love in this series, but I didn't miss it, either. It was a series about surviving, and that alone kept me turning page after page.

They're not perfect books by any means, but they were definitely page-turners despite the flaws. They remind me of John Marsden's Tomorrow series, which is also a cracking good read. You should try them.

LOL, thank you! I gave them all away to movie-goers at our theatre for the premiere. It's always funny though, as I walk away, hearing folks whisper, "I'm never going to eat this. I'm going to SAVE it forever!" :-D

I went back and saw it again on Sunday afternoon, and it was indeed still packed. I had to sit on the very front row for that one!

I saw it twice now, and it was SO much better the second time. I was able to really enjoy it, and I wasn't so busy going " That isn't what happened in the book" ... which surprisingly didn't happen all that often!

I've seen it twice now as well. The shaky cam stuff didn't bother me much the second time (though, truth be told, it only *mildly* bothered me the first time), but I enjoyed knowing what was coming at different parts. I also enjoyed Haymitch so much more. :-)
