The presence of the centipede is extremely disturbing to me because I have a phobia of centipedes, but at the same time, i find the overall picture compelling.

I understand the feeling. I drew it with the centipede specifically because I've always had a phobia about them - I'm bad with insects in general - and I wanted to incorporate a disturbing element. ::twitch::

And I do know that centipedes are not technically insects! But they go with the same phobia.

The eyes are what get me. Here's a centipede on her throat, but her attention is fixed on someone or something out of frame... Not at the viewer, but just past us. Over our shoulder, say. Nice and eerie!
