Comiket commissions, once again!

Aug 10, 2009 19:58

EDIT2: Sorry for the lateness! I've been to Comiket and I got most of the stuff that was requested. I will be going to Super Comic City too on Sunday (last minute decision), where I *might* be able to get some books that I couldn't get in Comiket (if the circles go there too, obviously). I'll try to contact everybody as soon as I can!
Some notes: I succeeded in getting all the 10-RANKAI, Signal, B PLUS and Mutsumix requests. As for KSL, the only Sairoku that was left was #4, so I couldn't get any copies of 3 and 1+2. BT and Store-ten weren't there where I got to their booths (no idea why), so I couldn't get anything by them :( As for everything else, I'll contact each of you privately with the details. Also, I'll try to post the list of surplus books as soon as I can.

EDIT: I updated the information for: 10-RANKAI, KSL, Himitsu-Bus, BT. To put it shortly, 10-RANKAI will bring her newest release, KSL will only bring one new book, Himitsu-Bus will bring a new release and BT won't bring "Blue Tomato" because apparently the printing shop didn't accept it so late.
Also, I accept payments with MoneyGram too.

Since last year I got many requests (and I could fulfill most of them) I decided to do this again. I'm taking commissions for Comiket, this time for any Naruto pairing/book (except for KakaIru). In this post I'll include the list of circles (plus pictures from the Comiket guide and links to their websites in case they have them) for which I'm taking commissions and I'll try to write anything you might want to know. PLEASE read EVERYTHING carefully, it will make things easier for both you and me. If you have questions, feel free to ask :D

IMPORTANT NOTICE: Naruto circles are on the first day of Comiket, which is August 14th. For this reason, I ABSOLUTELY need to receive your requests within that time, otherwise I obviously won't be able to get you the books. This means that you have to send me your requests within Friday morning (about 6-7 am) Japanese time.

First things first. How does this work? Why am I taking commissions? Is it free?

-I'm currently in Tokyo and I will go to Comiket anyway because I want to buy doujinshi for myself. Since I'm going, I might as well take requests from people who can't go because they live outside of Japan. It's your chance to get the circles' latest releases (or past releases too in some cases) at a far more reasonable price than in other places (especially auctions), and maybe also before they sell out...

-It's not free. You'll have to pay the doujinshi's original price plus $5 commission (for each book). Why? Well, if you've never been to Comiket maybe you have no idea, but it's really chaotic.. Thousands of people moving around and queuing to get books... x_x Since I'll have to buy many books for myself already, I will end up having to carry a very heavy load of stuff from Comiket to my house (over 1h trip). I will also have to queue for all the books, visit all the circles' booths, pay in advance, ship the books to whoever requested them etc etc. This is a lot of work, and I think you might understand why I wouldn't do that if it were for free... $5 is really not much (at least IMO), and since the books' original prices are quite low you'll probably end up paying less than with auctions anyway, plus you get the chance to choose which books you want, instead of just waiting for them to pop up somewhere.

:::FAQs:::

Q. What doujinshi/pairings are you taking commissions for?

A. Any Naruto circle that is not novel only. More precisely, all the circles on the list that I made. Any pairing and any book is fine, as long as the circle is on the list.
The only exception is for KakaIru books. In Japan KakaIru is the most popular pairing, so it's also the one with most circles. Last year I spent a lot of time making the KakaIru list and in the end no one requested them, so this year I'm not doing it. If you REALLY want a KakaIru book, contact me and we can talk about it.

Q. Do you also take commissions for other series?

A. No, too much of a trouble, sorry.

Q. How much does it cost?

A. The original price of the book + a $5 commission (for each book) + shipping fee from Japan to your country. A doujinshi usually costs from ¥500 to ¥900 according to the number of pages. If it's less than 20-30 pages it might even cost less, if it's a reprint collection or something very thick it might cost more. (Please check by yourself on some site like XE if you want to know how much that is in your currency) Shipping fees are not very high.. I posted some example rates, scroll down to read them ^^

Q. How do I choose the books? Can I just get a random one?

A. In the circles list I also wrote (when available) every circle's planned releases and their website. You can check on there and decide if you want a particular book. In that case, specify which one it is/they are. In case you just want a random book from a circle, please specify if you want the most recent one or if anything is fine. Also, if the circle has different pairings, please specify (in the "random book" case) which pairing you want me to get.

Q. How many books can I request?

A. You can request as many books as you want, BUT if I end up getting lots of requests I will only get you the three ones you're most interested in. For this reason, when you write your request PLEASE list the books from the one you would like the most to the one you feel less important. If I can't find one of them I'll just get the 4th one and so on.
(Last year I managed to get all the books requested, not only the first three ones, but in any case I'd suggest you to write them in your preferred order all the same)

Q. Can I get multiple copies of a single book? Can I get the free stuff some circles distribute?

A. No, I'm sorry but you cannot get multiple copies. I don't have infinite space in my bag and I'll have to get stuff for everyone (me included).
As for the free stuff, last year a few circles were kind enough to give me as many free items as the books I bought, so I included them in the parcels. However, it's not always like that, so I cannot guarantee.

Q. When will you ship the books? How can I pay you?

A. I will start making totals and everything else after Comiket ends (that is from the 17th), but it might take me a while if the books are many. I will ship as soon as I receive the payment. Moreover, I will be selling some surplus books that I eventually got, so if you think that you might be interested I can send you the total after you've checked out those ones as well. As for the payment, it will be made after I got the books, since I cannot give you a precise total until I'm sure that I got your books. I will ONLY accept PayPal (any kind of payment is fine, being direct, credit card etc, as long as it's through PayPal) or Western Union. (If you live in Italy, I also accept ricarica Postepay).
By the way, if you live in a country in which euro is used, you can pay me in euro instead of dollars ^^ I'll just convert the total to euro :D

Q. Will you really be able to get all of the books I requested?

A. Unfortunately, I cannot guarantee that I'll be able to get you all of the books or not. Some circles have huge stocks, some don't, and it also depends on how many people buy the books before me, and at what time I get to their booth. I'll try to do my best, but I'm alone, and I obviously cannot visit more than one booth at a time...
Reasons why I might not be able to get your books: 1) they're sold out; 2) I can't get enough copies; 3) they didn't bring them (maybe the info on the website was wrong/not updated); 4) I run out of luggages, bags and hands to carry everything.

Q. How much does shipping from Japan cost?

A. See right below this line :D

:::SHIPPING EXPENSES:::

Ok, I'll write a short list of the shipping prices from Japan, just so that you get the idea. The price rates are obviously more varied than what I wrote, so it might happen that your parcel actually costs less.

There are two basic ways of shipping, that is "small packet" or normal. Small packet is the cheapest fee, it works for parcels up to 2 kg and it exists in both SAL and airmail form. Personally, I've never had problems with "small packet", but please be aware that parcels sent that way are unregistered, so I suggest that you avoid it if you've had problems with parcels in the past.
Normal shipping can be either SAL or EMS (I won't take surface mail into consideration, since it takes two months for it to arrive... I won't take into consideration normail airmail either, because for some weird reason EMS costs less and it's faster..). Both of them are registered, but EMS is the only one with actual tracking and all.

Warning: if your parcel weighs more than 2-3 kg (depending on the country) it can't be sent as "small packet", so you'll have to choose either normal airmail or EMS. Many countries also accept "printed matter", that is the same as small packet (the difference is that you can only send books) and accepts up to 5 kg.

Some example fees (please note that 300g fits about 1-3 doujinshi depending on their size and page number, so it's not very easy to have a parcel heavier than 2kg..)(also, these are EXAMPLE fees, meaning that if your parcel weighs 700g it will be less expensive than the 1kg fee, and so on):

Small packet SAL
-to Asia: (up to 300g) $4, (up to 500g) $5.5, (up to 1kg) $9.5
-to North/Central America, Europe, Oceania: (up to 300g) $4.5, (up to 500g) $6.5, (up to 1kg) $11.5
-to South America, Africa: (up to 300g) $5, (up to 500g) $7.5, (up to 1kg) $14

Small packet airmail
-to Asia: (up to 300g) $5.5, (up to 500g) $8.5, (up to 1kg) $16
-to North/Central America, Europe, Oceania: (up to 300g) $7, (up to 500g) $10.5, (up to 1kg) $20
-to South America, Africa: (up to 300g) $8.5, (up to 500g) $14, (up to 1kg) $26

Normal SAL (registered)
-to Asia: (up to 3kg) $39, (up to 5kg) $54
-to North/Central America, Europe, Oceania: (up to 3kg) $54, (up to 5kg) $78
-to South America, Africa: (up to 3kg) $71, (up to 5kg) $104

EMS (registered, with tracking)
-to Asia: (up to 500g) $13, (up to 1kg) $20, (up to 5 kg) $65
-to North/Central America, Oceania: (up to 500g) $17, (up to 1kg) $26, (up to 5 kg) $88
-to Europe: (up to 500g) $20, (up to 1kg) $30, (up to 5 kg) $100
-to South America, Africa: (up to 500g) $23, (up to 1kg) $42, (up to 5 kg) $170

I hope that I was able to answer all of your doubts (or well, most of them). If that wasn't enough, feel free to ask me anything :D

:::HOW THE LIST WORKS:::

I will now explain how the list works.

I took the circle cuts (pictures made by the circles for the Comiket catalog) from the Comiket catalog and uploaded them. I divided the pictures into 5 parts: Sasuke x Naruto, Naruto x Sasuke, Akatsuki, normal (heterosexual) pairings, other pairings. I put a number next to every circle, which will help you identify it in the list.

The list too is divided into sections. Circles are numbered from #1 to #196 (yeah it's a LOT of them...). For every circle I included: circle name, website, author name, pairing(s), releases they will bring, link in which you can see the releases, eventual notes.
Please note that not all circles have a website, and even some that have it don't post Comiket info on them, so the releases list is not always certain. In those cases, I wrote it in the notes. Some circles have a release name despite not having a website because in the Comiket catalog you can include the name of one of your releases.

Note: I think I wrote "reprint collection" wherever it was needed, but anyway, "sairoku/sairokushuu" means that. In case you really want to know what books a sairoku contains, ask me and I'll try to look it up on the circle's website.

Important: Many circles handle more than one pairing, but they can obviously apply for only one space in a specific section. Example: the circle Rensougyo is mainly known for its SasuNaru books, but it's often in the heterosexual pairings section because it's active in the ShikaTema fandom too. I suggest you do a search in the list to check whether other circles in other sections handle pairings you like..
Also, as you probably noticed, any pairing that's not SasuNaruSasu Akatsuki or heterosexual is in the "Other pairings" part. If you're looking for a particular pairing just try to browse it, you might find something.

And now, finally....

:::HOW TO REQUEST:::

Please READ THIS PART carefully... It will make everything faster and easier for both of us.

You have to comment with:
1) the list of books you want, with the name of the circle and its number
2) an email I can use to contact you
3) the country you live in (so that I'll be able to calculate the shipping costs right away)
4) if you think that you might be interested in the surplus books I'll be selling after Comiket, please specify it (by the way, I already have about 70 books to sell, so it won't be just things I got from Comiket. I was actually planning to post the list before this commission post, but I didn't have time to do it. I might post it before Friday though, and eventually update it after Comiket).

As for the "list of books you want", you have to write them in a precise order, that is from the one you would like the most to the one you're less interested in. This is because in case I get too many requests I'll only get you the first three doujinshi in your list (I might switch to the 4th and/or 5th one in case I can't find one of the others). I'll also put your books on priority according to their position.

You can ask for either: a) a specific book; b) the latest release; c) a random book (with or without a specified pairing). You can see examples of all three kinds in the "Request example" further down.
Please DO NOT ask me to get you "some random SasuNaru books by circles you think are good" or the likes, because it's too much of a trouble and I probably won't have time to think about that. I think the list I made is detailed enough, so please choose the circles yourself.

In case too many of you request certain books and I cannot get enough copies, I'll give them out starting from the first ones who requested them.

Request example:

I would like these books:
1) #54 10-RANKAI's Re:so long
2) #41 Namawasabi Honten - her new release if she has one, otherwise the most recent book
3) #119 Nantoka Naru - any book is fine as long as it's YamaKaka
4) #109 Oushou Chikubai's reprint collection; if it's sold out, another book by them at random is fine

My email address is: narusasunaru@islove.com

I live in Italy.

I think I might take a look at the books you say you will have on sale..

Ok, I think I wrote everything...

LAST BUT NOT LEAST: Any update made to this post will be specified at the beginning (before the LJ cut). Updates might include: updating circles' release information, info about the status of your requests.

REMEMBER: Comment with your request within Thursday (13th) night or at least Friday (14th) early in the morning (6-7 am), otherwise I won't be able to write it down. (Times are meant as Japanese time)

Now that you read everything carefully (you did, right? ¬_¬), you can see the list and pictures:

-Circles list & information

Pictures:
-SasuNaru: page 1, page 2, page 3
-NaruSasu: page 1
-Akatsuki: page 1
-Normal (heterosexual) pairings: page 1, page 2
-Other pairings: page 1, page 2, page 3, page 4, page 5

I hope everything is clear x_x
If you have any questions, feel free to ask :D

Thank you~
