Jodi Manifesto Part II: Shah Rukh Khan and Juhi Chawla!

Sep 01, 2010 00:08

Welcome to part two of my SRK/Juhi jodi manifesto! :D

So here are all the films they've starred in which include different endings and special appearances

Darr

This film was the making of Shah Rukh Khan. The role was rejected by many others such as Aamir Khan who didn't feel that the audience would relate to a character as unhinged as Rahul and would be put off them as an actor in turn.  SRK made this role his own and stole the show from the apparent "hero" of the film, Sunny Deol.

Rahul (SRK) is obsessed and in love with K-k-kiran (Juhi) but she's already engaged to Sunil (Sunny) and is obviously creeped out by Rahul writing her letters in blood and following her around. Despite Kiran and Sunil getting married Rahul is still obsessed and follows them on their honeymoon.

Watch it because: While this film doesn't end with SRK and Juhi's characters walking off into the sunset together it is still a fantastic film. Shah Rukh plays Rahul with such conviction and earnestness you will definitely empathise with him at least a little bit.

Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa

This is not a Juhi/SRK starrer per se as she only makes a special appearance but that 5 minutes is definitely worth a watch. The film concentrates on SRK's Sunil who is amazingly pathetic in his pursuit of Anna (Suchitra Krishnamurthy). But at the end of the film Sunil meets a young woman (Juhi) asking him for directions and he ends up carrying all her luggage (and there is a LOT of it!) for her.

Watch it because: Even though you don't get more than 5 minutes of SRK/Juhi time the film is still a good film anyway. It's sort of a coming-of-age type film and if you;re a fan of SRK you should definitely watch what he consistently calls his best film. :D

Ram Jaane

I have only ever watched this film twice (but I've watched the songs more!) so I'm probably not the best judge of it. It's based on the Hollywood Angel's with Dirty Faces (which I also found boring). So although Ram and Bela are together for a while in the film you can't really support their characters getting together since Bela clearly loves someone else.

Watch it because: The songs are nice, Juhi is pretty and you should aim to have watched all these movies just because SRK/Juhi deserve your love and in the name of completion.

Paheli

Alas this film does not have SRK and Juhi opposite each other. Instead it has them playing brother and sister-in-law which doesn't allow much scope for scenes together. Nonetheless the film is gorgeous and I like the story as well although the Amitabh cameo was a bit much.

Watch it because: The colours are pretty, Juhi and Rani are pretty and the songs are good.

Om Shanti Om

Juhi only makes a special appearance in Deewangi Deewangi but definitely worth it. In my opinion she and SRK are so much better than SRK and Kajol in this song. Haters to the left. Kajol and SRK need all sorts of slow motion shots and references to films to make them sizzle but SRK and Juhi are just generally cute in normal circumstances :D.

Watch it because: The film is hilarious! And really if you haven't watched it already at least once why are you sitting around here reading this?!

Thank you so much for reading through all of this. I hope I have at least encouraged you the tiniest bit to appreciate the awesomeness that is Shah Rukh Khan and Juhi Chawla and now go watch some of these films!
