Every story has an end

I'm not one that often puts much effort into their appearance. It's not that I don't care what I look like, just so much as a matter of the fact that I've never been a girly girl - and I find most girly girl things to be tedious. Once in a while, however, I do like to be "pretty". Last week I went to the salon with a groupon and got my hair washed ( Read more... )

Very pretty! :)

Hi new friend!

I have naturally curly hair as well so I totally know how exhausting it is to keep it straight. I love when mine is straightened but it's so much work. I break out the flat iron from time to time but, like you, I typically pull it back cuz I just can't be bothered with it. Especially in the summer time.

I can be girly with some things and then very guy-like with others. I don't wear make-up and I hate shopping but I love face/body products and many various "girly" things.

Have you ever tried using Wen? I've been using it for a few months now and it's great for my dry curls. Plan on sticking with it from now on.

Hellooooo there :)

Oh yeah, with the Summer coming I'm not going to be attempting much with my hair. Down here in "The South" I hear is like hell.. only 100% muggier.. Yay! (this will be my first summer in Alabama)

I rarely wear makeup either. In this picture I AM because I figured if I was going to have pretty hair I might as well have a pretty face to go with it - but most other days I just can't be bothered. About the only time I do makeup is when I go "out".

I hate shopping too!.. I guess you can say my "girly thing" is lotion.. I'm a lotion addict! I have so many different lotions... Body Butters, Regular Lotions, Scented Lotions, sparkly lotions.. lol

Oh and about the girly thing - I totally agree! I was just getting tired of spending so much time keeping up the straight hair. Oh well, it was fun while it lasted, I got so many compliments at work - it gave my ego a much needed boost!

You look great! But I can totally relate about the curly hair. I have naturally curly hair too. I've always wanted long hair and when I tried growing it out, it would end up way too curly and just didn't look good. So now I keep it really short and the minute it starts to get slightly curly, I get a haircut.

Curly Hair Powers, ACTIVATE!

Sorry, couldn't help myself - the three of you that have replied all have curly hair as well. I'm starting to think we've inadvertently started a secret club.. Or... is it more conspiratorial than that? (dun dun duuuuun)

At any rate, thank you :) Aaaaaaand I completely wish sometimes I could cut my hair off - unfortunately there is no short style that I could wear that would not either make me look horrible, or revert into it's natural I'm-curlier-when-I'm-short-Afro.

Shorter than that... well.. I may not be a girly girl but I'm certainly not Butch either lol.

Aaaaagreed!

I learned something interesting last week from an older lady at my work though. She was complimenting me on my hair and we got onto the subject of how she'd gone to cosmetology school when she was young. She told me that the reason that older women start cutting their hair shorter and shorter is because longer hair accentuates the sagging and wrinkling of your skin as you get old. I'd always wondered why I rarely see elderly women with longer hair - well, now I know!... I dread the day I have to cut my hair short though :(
