Such situations are always bad. The only thing I know you could probably do is that:
"I'm very sorry, but I can't. You are one of my best friends and after all I went through this year, I am not able to loose somebody else. If it won't work then nothing will be like before! I like you way too much to risk that, and I hope you can understand my point of view."
