So, I'm a high-def snob. Sue me.

I was one of the early adopters of 1080p LCD televisions. Mine is 40" and it looks great. My only complaint is that it only came with 2 HDMI inputs. After plugging in the cable box and the PS3, everything else has to use either Component or composite (barf ( Read more... )

To be honest, I kind of want to do the same thing when I got more cash. The HDMI port plus larger hard drive are enough for me.

First, I'd see if you have any friends you can sell it to. Contact Microsoft about the little dongle you can use to transfer the data from one hard drive to another and just use the bigger hard drive. Some games will benefit greatly from being installed onto the drive, so it's not like 120gigs going to waste. Just imagine Fallout 3 or Oblivion running on that thing.

Just be careful with games like Halo 3, who are designed to cache with the hard drive. It turns out that actually takes longer after installation, as it tries to cache AND read at the same time, something that's a little tough for a hard drive to do.

Honestly, I'm not too concerned about having a larger hard drive on my 360. Whereas the PS3 was designed from the beginning to have portions of games installed on the HD, even with recent updates, I don't think it makes a huge difference on the 360.

My main concern is to try and do this without spending too much money. I don't need the Elite; the Arcade will be fine.

By the way, assuming you get it, let me know how the TMNT:TiT Re-Shelled is. I won't be able to grab it myself.

Microsoft has been on a real kick with their summer releases. 'Splosion Man has had stellar reviews, MvC2 is, well, MvC2, TMNT looks fun and Shadow Complex is going to be awesome. This is following Battlefield 1943, and while I can't recall what's been released before that I'm pretty sure there were a few more great titles.

It's like they pushed all of their chips for Arcade into hoping nothing major would release during summer retail. And it's working.

Sounds like a good idea if you have the disposable income. I'm a cheap bastard, so I'm hardpressed to justify that sort of expense on a new Xbox 360 while still having a perfectly good Xbox 360. I've used both component and HDMI for my Xbox 360, and I haven't detected a real visual difference on an LG50.
