A. Reflection: In the story "Boys and Girls," look very carefully at the descriptions of the areas where the father and mother work, and where the children sleep. How does the narrator feel about each of these areas, and how can you tell? Do these descriptions illustrate one or more binaries?

I found that even though the girl in "boys and Girls" didn't like or agree with the obvious separations between what males and females are to do, she subconsciously was growing into that inevitable role of female. It shows by her decorating her room with lace, and her physically not being able to do keep up with her brother, meanwhile and the bond with her brother grows more distant. She didn't want to notice these differences until her father that she admires so much, came out and said it.
